Knitting kit for Elvira Mittens with cables in nling No 3

Weve designed a pair of lovely mittens featuring beautiful cables. The mittens are knitted in our own organic merino wool,nling No 3, resulting in a chunky and comfortablepair of mittens.

We were inspired by the beautiful Aran sweaters and all their intricate patterns, and have created two charming cable designs: one with cables in various sizes, and another with a mock cable thats knitted without a cable needle. The mittens can be made in many variations and make a perfect, thoughtful gift.

100 g / 2 ballsnling No 3, 100% heavy organic merino wool, 50 g = approx. 145 yards (133 meters), weight: DK / Worsted

Worked with one strand throughout.

Recommended circular or double-pointed needles(dpn) size 3 and 4 mm / US 4 and 6

1 meter / 40 inches of contrasting-color yarn
1 stitch marker

Gauge24 sts and 30 rows in stockinette on needles size 4 mm /US 6 = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches.

Procedure
The mittens are worked in the round from the wristupwards. You start with a rib cuff and continue instockinette, with many cables on the back of the hand,straight stockinette on the palm, and false cables onthe thumb. Stitches are set aside for the thumb beforefinishing the mitten. The false cables on the palm sideare continued on the thumb. Finally, the thumb stitchesare picked up again, and the thumb is worked.
